Tyler's 4th Birthday

We celebrated Tyler's 4th Birthday last week. We started with lunch out at Carl's Jr.(Tyler loves to go anywhere with a play place). After lunch, we went swimming. They opened the outdoor pool about 5 days before his birthday, so the kids were all pretty excited about swimming. Tyler especially loves the big slide, so I'm thankful that Danny was able to join us for part of the time.

After swimming, we headed home and had a quick pancake, eggs, and bacon dinner. Then Tyler opened all of his presents.
After presents, we had cake and ice cream. Tyler requested a rainbow cake or cupcakes with pink frosting (pink is his favorite color).
He loved the presents and the cake and having so much special attention all day. He also loves to tell people that he is 4.

End of School and Beginning of Summer

Here are some of the things we have been up to in the past two weeks. The girls finished up school. It is always bitter sweet for us because they are excited to be done for the year, but they also miss their teachers and friends that they made throughout the year. We decided to dull the sadness by taking the girls ziplining right after they got out of school on the last day. I will post pictures of it later. It seemed to do the job and we had so much fun.

We decided to dull the sadness by taking the girls ziplining right after they got out of school on the last day. This is the only picture I have from the experience because I was busy taking video footage with our new GoPro. Danny took some pictures of the experience that I will post later. These giant chairs were inside the hut where we checked in and put on our gear. The girls had never been ziplining before and they had a blast. It seemed to do the job of helping them forget how sad they were to end the school year and we had so much fun.
Tyler finished up his preschool year. He had a small class, but they were a good and easy group to work with. This picture was taken on one of the last days of class for the year.
And then on the last day of preschool, we celebrated with a park day. Tyler brought cookies to share with his class to celebrate his upcoming birthday.
We have been enjoying the pool. The kids are especially excited that the outdoor pool is now open.
The warmer weather has also given us the chance to do more bike rides. On this particular bike ride, we went geocaching. As Alyssa and I were searching for one of the geocaches, Ashley and the boys were entertained with this goose. It seemed to be hurt and was not afraid of us, at all. In fact, it was hard to get this picture because it was walking right for me and I had to keep backing up.
I took the kids to the zoo the day after school got out in hopes that it wouldn't be crowded that day since a lot of other schools were having their last day. It was a perfect day for the zoo, not too hot or too cold. We had a lot of fun. Here are some of the pictures from the day.

We went to the bird show and had seats in the front row right in the center.  We had so many birds fly right over our heads. We got a picture with the bald eagle after the show.

The kids especially loved the train ride and the carousel.
And, of course, they loved the new play area. We visited it twice. It was a fun day and the crowds were not too bad.
