Summer Fun

I am really, really, REALLY behind on our blog updates. So I'm going to sum our summer adventures up in 2 different posts. This first post will be the fun we had here at home. Both Alyssa and Ashley participated in a summer camp with some of their friends. It switched from house to house, weekly, throughout the summer. Each girls got to host for a week and choose the activity. Alyssa chose to make fruit pizza's and do a pancake art competition.

Ashley did water games and homemade ice cream for her host week, but we didn't get any pictures of it. I was busy running the games. Here is a picture of her group from a different week when they painted.
The kids worked hard on summer chores that they could cash in for a prize. One prize that Ashley chose was a trip to the Animal Shelter to look at dogs. It opened later than we expected, so she also got a short trip to the puppy barn. The puppies were adorable.
We did a summer baking camp again this summer with a much smaller group. Alyssa did most of the planning and teaching of the camp. These were Ashley's cupcakes from cake week.
Alyssa practiced a lot of face painting this summer to prepare for the children's entrepreneur market that they participated in. The market was fun for them, but they didn't make very much money.

We took a camping trip down to southern Utah and returned to Goblin Valley. We also went to Canyonlands for the first time, but I must have forgotten to take pictures that day because I couldn't find any.

We honored Casey on his birthday with some muffin art.

Alyssa and I ran the Temple to Temple 5K in Provo on July 24th. We both had fun.

We also went to a Lehi City Splash Party on the 24th. The kids got to rock climb, play in bounce houses, ride some ponies, play water games, and pet some real looking dinosaurs.

We did our annual camping trip to Lagoon again this year. Tyler was so excited to be barely tall enough to ride some of the bigger roller coasters. His favorite one was Wicked.
Alyssa cleaned out her closet at the beginning of summer. They had to get a picture on the shelves while they were empty. Sadly, this picture reminds me a bit of some holocaust pictures.
All the kids did a round of swimming lessons, with exception of Alyssa. They had fun and learned some new skills that they were excited to practice during family swimming time. Tyler is almost swimming. We just need to work on his breathing to the side skills and staying afloat in one place.
I took the kids to Steel Days in American Fork while Danny was away on a business trip. They loved the carnival rides. Alyssa was kind enough to skip out on them to let the others ride more.
The boys met Spiderman at one of the booths there.
Tyler celebrated his 6th birthday. We did a scavenger hunt at the park for him(and Ashley and Camden). Then we had dinner at Carl's Jr.(he loves chicken stars and the play place) and cake, ice cream, and presents at home. He wanted a Pig Cake from his favorite TV show Word World. Alyssa and I did our best with it. It looks a little on the creepy side, but I think you can still tell what it is.
It was a fun summer and we were all sad to see it come to an end. I'm especially not looking forward to the cold temperatures in the upcoming months.
