I attended the last day of school awards ceremony. The boys were not on their best behavior and we barely made it through the 20 minutes we were there. Alyssa was honored for being a part of student government. She missed her 4.0 honor roll because her art teacher gave her an A- for one of the 4 terms. She was pretty sad about that, but still is an amazing student.
Ashley, on the other hand, was one of 6 students in the 4th-6th grade that did get a 4.0. I was so proud of her for achieving this on her first year of actual letter grades. She works hard and all of her teachers love her.
There were some tearful goodbye's when school was out.
Both girls had a great year, even if Alyssa suffered through most of her history lessons. She was not digging the 6th grade ancient world history curriculum this year.
To celebrate the last day of school, we took the girls to an escape room. They have both been talking about wanting to do one for a long time. We thought it would be a good distraction since they always get a little bit sad when school is out for the summer. Unfortunately, the escape room we chose, messed up big time and they were not in the building at our reserved time. We waited for 45 minutes before heading to lunch. They finally called us as we were finishing up lunch and offered to let us do a different room, since another group was in our reserved room. We chose a room called Grandpa's Attic. The girls had fun and were actually quite helpful in solving the puzzles. We made it out with about 30 seconds to spare. In the end, we found grandpa and his gold.
They told us that we had to pose with a prop for our picture at the end. Alyssa put on the Chewbacca costume. We aren't even sure why that costume was a prop for this escape room, but she had fun wearing it.
Because of the mix up, they offered to let us come back for free and try out the room that we had originally reserved. We still haven't made it back, but we plan to go soon.
