We celebrated Tyler's birthday on our first day in Vancouver/Point Roberts. We let him choose from our list of activities, which he wanted to do on his birthday. The activity that he chose was Flyover Canada. We didn't know until we got there that it was located on the same pier as the cruise port. The traffic was not great getting into town, but once we made it, things went pretty smoothly. We had to do the ride (which was similar to the "Soarin' over California" ride at California Adventure) in shifts because we didn't want to leave Lula alone at our VRBO all day. The boys went first while Ashley and I walked into town a little and found a shady spot to sit in and wait. We were looking for grass, but didn't really find more than a small patch.
There was a little informational movie after we got inside.
The ride was about 30 minutes, but we needed to be in line about 15 minutes before our scheduled time. After the boys finished, we met up to pass Lula off to them and then Ashley and I headed over for our turn. We had to wait for a little bit before heading in.
Our ride took us on a flight all around Canada. We got to see glaciers and sled dogs and waterfalls and the Northern lights during our flight. We got sprayed a little with water and wind in some places, too. It was fun.
After flyover Canada, we drove to Stanley Park. Our plan was to walk the seawall, but we learned after getting there the park is huge and the seawall was like 10 kilometers long. We also learned that we would have to pay to park and we were all a little worn out. So we drove through the whole park and then we headed home. We had sweet pork for dinner since that is one of Tyler's favorite meals and then he opened his gifts. We hung out for a bit and then finally got him to decide on watching a movie for our evening activity.
He chose "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory." We pulled out the ice cream halfway through the movie. Tyler doesn't like cake and chose ice cream for his birthday treat.
Tyler is a sweet and kind boy, especially for a 13-year-old. He enjoys running, American Ninja Warrior, Roblox, Among Us, and playing with friends. His favorite school subjects are Drama and Math. We are grateful to have him as part of our family.
