The Saratoga Springs Temple Open House started around the middle of April. By the time we went on to make a reservation, there weren't any days that would work for our family to go until early June. However, Danny, Alyssa, and I had the opportunity to serve as ushers shortly after it started. And then, Danny and I also got invited to go through on a special tour with the YSA Stake President, his wife, and some members of the stake that maybe wouldn't have the opportunity to be able to go to the temple after it is dedicated for a while. Danny had 4 come from his ward. After the VIP tour, we got to sit in one of the sealing rooms and have a mini testimony meeting about some of our thoughts and feelings after going through the tour. The spirit was so strong, and it was so special to be there.
I loved serving as a standing usher in the temple. I was assigned to the 3rd floor and rotated between 4 5 different positions. 2 of them were inside the Celestial Room, 2 were at the doors of the Celestial room, and the last was at the elevator. It was hard to stand still for so long, but the spirit was so strong. I especially loved opening the doors to the Celestial room for kids who were seeing a celestial room for the first time. Their eyes would just light up as they looked inside. I am grateful that I was able to serve. Here are some cool pictures of the temple.
